After spending $15 for a package of crystal film covers at the Apple store I peeled an old, scratched one off the cover, went to use the spare that has been included only to find that it had amassed dust and lint under the cover and ruining the one screen protector that came with my new Speck Candyshell case it had a part of lint underneath that caused it to bubble, I figured I could take a chance on these screen protectors as I knew I did not need anything cool, just something to keep my keys from scratching my screen in my purse.

It was a great choice. Not only are they cheap, there are five of them. They’re all packaged individually in their own plastic sleeve no dust/lint collection from saving them in your desk! and they all come with a cleaning cloth. I was firstly perplexed by the double level covers that you peel off the real screen, but I really favor this to a regular screen protector that you peel from the backing only and apply.

I watched a great YouTube video showing you how to apply these types of screen protectors that have the dual backings. If you peel away the 1st level as you apply the cover this way your fingers don’t ever have to touch the real protector since you’re touching the backing and use a credit card to smooth out bubbles as you go, it comes out great. Then you peel off the top level and it is perfect.

I am really happy I searched for these. Great value for what you get. As well, their buyer service is great. Responsive.

I have never left a review before, but wow! they are incredible! In the three months that I have had my iPhone, I have gone through two $24 screen protectors from Best purchase. They guaranteed me they were top of the line. After that, I bought many case mate screen protectors from Wal Mart. There were three in the pack, and all three had faults. Many little dot of something or another that prevented the cover from going on smoothly. I resorted to one of these that I’d gotten as a gift from another buy, and they are AWESOME! No faults, easy to apply, perfect non gummy protection. I love them!

they are great screen protectors, and inexpensive! I 1st bought the set of five mirrored ones, which were good, except in broad daylight, then they’re nearly impossible to see through! So I bought these, and I love them! And I have four extra mirrored and clear for use later! thanks!!!

This is a good case that will protect your iPhone better than most other cases.

Pros:

Very lasting. I could feel safe using it for outdoor actions like biking, running, hiking, skiing but it is not waterproof, camping, etc.

You can use all buttons on the phone.

Durable belt clip has another feature that makes it simple to attach to your belt.

Cons:

Very, hard to detach the case from the belt holster.

The rubber/silicone outer cover frequently gets bunched up when you attach it to the belt holster.

Most importantly, the fitted screen protector gets splotchy and greasy easily, nearly as if there is condensation or liquid between the screen protector and the iPhone’s screen. The only way to take off it’s to take the phone out of the case and clean it off which is a nuisance.

Conclusion: It does not make a good “everyday” case. I only recommend buying it if you are an avid outdoorsman. For everyday use, find another case.

I’m not typically one to leave review comments. But I surely read a BUNCH of reviews on cases for my iPhone 3G. THANK YOU to all those who wrote reviews and helped me pick the Otterbox Defender case! This case is awesome. Lasting, all functions are available. And yes, the oil slicking effect is on occasion present, but easily fixed.

The ONLY issue I had when I installed the case was that now after I installed the case, nearly 95 of all people I talked to said they heard an echo every time they spoke you know, when you say something and a second afterward you hear it in your ear part. ANNOYING!.

I has been bummed because the case is built like a tank and already saved my phone from a 6′ drop onto the asphalt in the rain. Though, I decided to take off the felt pieces that cover the mic and ear pieces since they’re only there to prevent possible drops of water hitting those phone parts directly. Once I removed those pieces, not one person complains of hearing the echo anymore! weird, but it worked. So I wanted to pass it on.

The echo was the ONLY issue I had with this case. It is the best case I could find and WELL worth the money. I recommend it to everyone I see with an iPhone now :

I bought the OtterBox 3G Defender for my iPhone through their web site, but I thought I’d talk about how happy I’m with it here. I have heard many of complaints about the oil slicking effect under the membrane, but that problem was easily solved, and has not reoccurred since I placed my phone in the case for the last time.

Calls are clear through it, and clear on the other end. I have heard some people talk about a tunnelling effect, but that does not seem present. All my calls have been just as clear as they were in my last phone case.

The OtterBox case is really protecting, and of all the cases I have looked at so far, the sturdiest case for the iPhone 3G that I have seen. I greatly recommend it to anybody who’s looking for a hard case for his or her phone. Well worth the money!
